In the country is now operational for three months the first environmentally friendly pig farm, where the manure they produce these animals, as well as sewage, are used to generate all the energy you need plant.

Through a well of 2,000 cubic metres, which is poured manure mixed with water, generates a gas that is 65%, which is used as fuel for the generator and the kitchen of the farm.

The Manager of Biogenetik, Carlos Porrello, stated that the bio-digester installed in this farm, which had an investment of almost two million pesos, is 50 cm under the ground level and is five meters deep of water.

Said that after the entry into operation of this system, the plant had savings of RD$ 90,000 per month, which was the amount expended in the purchase of fuel for the supply of energy from all the u000afarm, by what he considers that in 22 months it would recover the investment.

"If you see a project of these from the point of view of electricity production, paid, if you see it as an environmental solution is paid and if you see it as a factor to reduce costs also can be", so said the President of the company Sanut, which was responsible for the installation of this bio-digester.

Biogenetik is a farm that has 1,000 pigs and in the country there are others that have up to 20,000 pig heads, suggesting that in Dominican Republic there is the capacity and number of sources of production of energy.

The pit can accommodate 1,400 cubic metres of biogas but with a population of 1,000 pigs manure is producing 180 cubic meters of fuel, amount that can generate 21 kW by day.

"We only use 15 kilowatts per day", said.

Lajara said that this is not u000athe first bio that is created in this country, but that is the first that is created with a concept and tecnolo-different Uruguayans. Lajara explained that any farm, no matter the size, albeit of chickens, you can install a system of these and generate their own energy, either to lower costs or purposes commercial.

"We, on the farm, already have what we wanted, that is saving 100% in fuel costs and our plan for the next year, handing over our vehicles to this system", said.

While Lajara explained that this project carries a message to all livestock producers that can produce electricity with the debris of their farms.

"There are farms that have capacity to produce up to more than 200 kilowatts and obviously are projects with high added value and fast I repayment," pointed out.

The businessman indicated that when a farm decides to put up a bio-digester to u000agenerate biogas, saves 100% costs of fuels and works in harmony with the environment

He said that a farm with 20,000 pigs could save nearly two billion pesos monthly.

Imports DESMEDIDAS
dispossession of poultry producer of pigs and member of the Dominican Association of farms (Adogranja), Peter Joseph, denounced in the sausages that are occurring in this country, them they are doing with divestment of birds imported.

He stated that this situation, it is illegal according to the descriptions which establishes the General Directorate of standards and quality systems (Digenor), has caused collapse in more than 50% of the producers of pigs premises.

, However, stressed that he is not against imports, because they are allowed through the Treaty of free United States and Central America (DRCafta), of the arrival in the country, amounts that exceed the u000apermitted, of dispossession of birds.

The divestment of birds is a product made with the bones of the meat.
