Financial scandal in Sosua

The new office of tax collection operates under the name "Management of Municipal Collections", (Gestión de Cobros Municipales) and does not comply with regulations, says Cesar Pena.
He added that he sent a letter asking them to discontinue the creation of these offices and the interviewing of staff.
Nobody from the new tax collector office was available to comment.
Mayor Vladimir Cespedes denied the allegations and said that the company had won a legal tender from Sosua council for this work.
But Council President Jose Vallejo denied this and said he had never participated in a public tender to award a new contract for collection of tax bills and described the proposal as irregular.

He said he had invited Cespedes to clear up this accusation before he took it to court.
