Flood water remains in Puerto Plata 2 weeks later
posted on: Mar 4 2010 9:0 by Royston. Viewed 541 times. The floods of mud and debris that covered the lower part of the city's main streets on February 14 are still unabated due to the silt and debris clogging the storm drains in the area.
Residents in block 14, next to the polyclinic, said that to leave their homes they have roll up their trousers and wear rubber boots.
They have asked officials of the Water and Sewerage Corporation of Puerto Plata (CORAAPLATA) to clean out the storm drains that have been blocked now for over 2 weeks.
Carmen Quiroz, who lives in the neighborhood, explained that the pipes have been blocked with mud since the floods.
On both sides of the streets in the Neighborhood of General Gregorio Lupern, there are piles of mud removed from the pavement by workers from the city cleansing department, but so far this sediment has not been removed from the site.
