Food and transport affected the CPI

Food and beverage groups not alcoholic, transport and housing had the greater weighting in the price index to the consumer (IPC) which published the Central Bank (CB), which determined that the inflation in 2011 was 7.76%.

According to the report of the CB, the Group food and non-alcoholic beverages had a weight of 25.10% within the general index, while transport with a 17.95% and housing with 11.60%. Together contribute a 54.65% measurement.

Inflation was due to rising oil and major agricultural goods, which impacted on increases in the prices of the services of transport, fuel, electricity, food, non-alcoholic beverages, which provided 5.55 percentage points to growth in the CPI.

The vast majority of goods and services went through a process of positive and negative variations.

The variation of 0.69% in the index of the Group u000aTransport was due to reduction in 2.49 premium gasoline prices %, regular 2.57%, diesel 0.61%, and liquefied gas for vehicles 1.01%, due to the weekly settings arranged by the Ministry of industry and trade, in compliance to the hydrocarbons Law 112-00, which establishes a tax on petroleum and fossil fuel consumption.

The Group food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced growth of 0.57% over November.

The articles of greatest incidence were fresh chicken with a 6.04%, eggs 6.22%, green bananas 2.09%, onions 6.74%, current beef and pork 2.40%, potatoes 5.82%, 17.46 sour lemon % and avocado 4.49%.

On the other hand the group housing index showed a negative variation of - 0.08% due to the low - 1.01% in the price of liquefied gas from oil use domestically (GLP).

The variation of the index of tradable goods, which are those that can be u000aexport and import free of restrictions, was - 0.34% attributable to the reduction in the prices of fuels, cars and some real food as green guandules, yucca, peppers, tomatoes and garlic.

While goods and non-tradable services, that only nature can be marketed within the economy that produces it, showed a rise of 0.62% for increases in the prices of fresh chicken, onions, and ground transportation and rental of housing services.

The CPI in the Ozama region rose 0.13%, at 0.12 North %, in the East 0.14% and South registered the lowest rate of variation with 0.06%.
