According to the institution with this measure the authorities begin to comply with article 110 of the law General of electricity 125-01, dated July 26, 2001, so that the Organization had been advocating during the past nine years.
Similarly, the Organisation for the defence of the rights of consumers and users said it expects the CDEEE to do the same with electric energy supplying companies in electricity generation.
In his opinion, the contracts which cover the EDES are affected was illegal, as the arising of the Madrid Agreement, signed when already it was in force throughout the national territory the law 125-01, or u000aunconstitutionality, as those requiring to pay them millions in dollars to companies whose plants remain off, due to the high cost of fuel they use, as the case of the former, current Cogentrix is company Electric San Pedro of Macorís.
Fundecom criticized that it has not taken the decision to build a pipeline from Andrés, Boca Chica, to San Pedro de Macoris, to convert the plant to combined cycle which enables you to use natural gas in electricity generation.
In this way, means of generating electric power plants of minimum cost, which is the goal of all rational management cycle is completed. A reduction in the price of the electricity tariff, which increases each year by more technological innovations to be introduced in the electricity sector will be achieved with a pipeline, according to Fundecom.
To build the pipeline, explains Fundecom, oblige the pricing based on the u000amandate contained in article 114 of the law 125-01, which points out that it should be based on cost analysis and not to decisions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as it has happened in recent years.
The institution complained of the high cost of electricity, which affects the production of goods and services in the country.
