Gorbachev calls for cancelling legislative elections

Viewed 16 times.Russia's opposition, which yesterday Wednesday called for new demonstrations against the Party of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's victory, received the support of former President Mikhail Gorbachev, who claimed the cancellation of legislative elections on Sunday.
"Believe that the authorities can only make a decision: cancel the results of the elections and organise new elections", declared Gorbachov. "Every day there are more and more Russians who do not believe in the honesty of the announced results", added the former President of the now defunct Union Soviet.
"In my opinion, ignore the public discrediting the authorities and destabilizes the situation," added Gorbachov. "The direction of the country must be recognized that there were many falsifications and manipulations," insisted Gorbachov.
Russia United, the Party of Putin, won the election with almost 50% of the votes (15% less compared to the election of) u000a(2007).
According to the opposition and foreign observers the elections were marked by numerous irregularities.
Yesterday, the "Demonstration for honest elections" group called through a new demonstration networks on Saturday in the Centre of Moscow.
Another group, named "against the Party of scammers and thieves", called by his party to meet every day at 19 H 00 (15 H 00 GMT).
