Government RD CITES priorities in Haiti

Ambassador Dominican Republic in Haiti, Rubén Silié, said yesterday that the Dominican Government has prioritized five themes to reinforce and to maintain bilateral relations with Haiti during 2012.

The diplomat pointed out that the Bilateral Joint Commission, chaired by the Chancellor Carlos Morales Troncoso, has been identified as a priority trade relations, migration, tourism, health and environment.

The diplomat spoke during a visit to the director of LISTÍN DIARIO, Miguel Franjul, accompanied by the journalist Octavian Rivera, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy yesterday.

Pointed out that the aspirations are focused on the occurrence of a meeting of the Joint Bilateral Commission. He stressed that the representatives of both countries favor to meet as soon as possible, so that the five defined topics from acquiring institutional character, so that they are systematic policies and to ensure continuity.

BILATERAL relationship remains at the same level

Silié pointed out that after the arrival to power of President Michel Martelly, the relations of the Dominican Government with his Haitian counterpart have followed practically u000aat the same level as with the previous mantarario, René Préval. "Despite the fact that President Fernandez has a personal relationship with Préval, with this team (of Martelly) there has been an extraordinary facility to communicate with him, and could indeed argue that relations at this level of personal approach are the same level as Préval," explained the Dominican diplomat.
