Government signs agreement with the World Bank and the EU to create trust fund of the public expenditure

Viewed 20 times.The Ministry of finance and the national authorising officer of the European development funds today signed an agreement with the European Union and the World Bank for the creation of a trust fund, with the aim of developing a programme of support to the Dominican Government in its efforts to improve the management of public spending.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of finance, Daniel Toribio, the computer national of the European development funds, Domingo Jiménez, Ambassador Irene Horejs, head of the delegation of the European Union and the representative of the World Bank, Roby Senderowitsch.
The Fund, financed entirely by the European Union, is equipped with one million euros and it will be administered by the World Bank which in turn will be responsible for implementing the programme of activities in coordination with the ministries of finance and economy.
The Minister Daniel Toribio thanked, on behalf of the Dominican Government, the signature of u000aagreement with the European Union and the World Bank.
"This programme represents a further step towards a greater alignment and harmonisation of our cooperation in this country, in the heart of the Dominican public finance management," said Ambassador Irene Horejs, head of the delegation of the European Union at Dominican Republic.
At the event held at the Hall Miguel Cocco of finance, also weighted the importance of the agreement, the national authorising officer of the European development funds, Domingo Jiménez, and the representative of the World Bank, Roby Senderowitsch.
Programme to develop contributes to the process of reform of public finances in the Dominican Republic, through three key components identified by the latest report of accountability in finances and spending public 2010 (PEFA) such as multiannual budgetary planning; implementation of the single account of Treasury and improvement of u000apublic procurement.
The project will be implemented over a period of three years (2012-2014) and the executing units of the components within the Ministry of Finance shall be the Directorate-General of public credit, the unity of the Treasury and the Bureau of the budget, and by the Ministry of economy, the Directorate General for economic development and Social.
