In the midst of slogans, singing and dancing, hundreds of people of Haitian descent protested yesterday close to the building of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Attorney-General's Office, after claiming to have been stripped of their nationality by the Junta Central Electoral.

The activity was organized by the movement of women Dominican Haitian (Mudha), the network meeting Dominicano-Haitiano Jacques Viau and the movement for a free Civil registration of discrimination.

Participating organizations warned that their struggle will not cease "until that is recognized and respected the right of all Dominicans of Haitian descent affected by resolution 12-07 from the JCE".

The demonstrators were a cultural in the avenida Jiménez Moya Act to denounce that the Supreme Court intends to apply retroactively, laws that affect the children of immigrants and who are unaware of their right to nationality.

"We" u000a"we are here demanding a right and we are giving a visible sign to society, to the Dominican authorities, that those affected by the resolution are real people, are young people that we were born here and we need to be part of the development and growth of this Republic," said Jenny Morón, speaking on behalf of the organizers.

Argues that the resolution does not issue birth certificates to Dominicans of Haitian descent whose records presented irregularities, which has been described as "process of denationalization" by victims. He said that those affected by the resolution added about four thousand people, according to Morón, have no mobility or way to develop within society. He said that the policy of denationalization which executes the Dominican State being affected to a situation of legal uncertainty.

Considers it unacceptable that the Supreme u000arecognize the power to remove records of birth, when it is a matter for the courts of first instance to the JCE.
