The President-elect of the Dominican medical school (CMD), Amarilis Herrera, expressed concern about the percentage of Caesarean sections that are practised in the country and proposed yesterday a meeting between medical leaders, representatives of clinics, authorities, and company specialized to discuss this topic.

Herrera was interviewed on the matter to the be proclaimed yesterday as President-elect of the CMD during the elections of the last nine day of this month. He said that the indication of caesarean section rises many times due to the increase in pregnancies in adolescents in the country.

"The increase in cases of caesarean section rather than natural childbirth is worrying, but I do not think that you should be putting all the blame to the doctor, is a problem that should be analysed," said.
