Head of Minustah: Haiti can assume its security

Haiti can already assume the management of their own safety through its police force, to which United Nations trained for these purposes, said yesterday to LISTÍN DIARIO. the representative of the Secretary-General of the UN in this country, Mariano Fernandez.

"Security has been greatly improved and political violence has disappeared," said the head of the Mission of the UN for the stabilization of Haiti (Minustah).

Fernandez added that the multinational force conducted a "silent work" in Haiti, where evenings 4,000 of its troops patrolling the major cities of the country to ensure security.
