Hospital roof collapse

Part of the roof to the entrance area of a major hospital collapsed in the early hours of Sunday morning,
The Director of Robert Reid Cabral Children's Hospital in Santo Domingo said the collapse was due to corroded steel reinforcing bars and caused some alarm in the hospital.

The facility was opened 55 years ago in 1955, but the collapse occurred immediately next to the new emergency area opened recently by President Leonel Fernandez and his wife.
Health Ministry officials have so far offered no comment.
