The national's human rights Commission (NHRC) denounced yesterday that since the beginning of the year, nine people have died allegedly at the hands of police officers and claimed to have received allegations of torture caused by agents of detainees during interrogation.

Before these statements, the police headquarters immediately denied that version and said that the members of that institution respected the rights of persons detained.

The Chairman of the Committee, Manuel María Mercedes, cited among the dead to Ramón Emilio Liranzo Vásquez (serving), 39 years old, who supposedly more police killed him past day 4 at Moca, and cases of Gregorio Vásquez (Bebo), aged 24, and Raúl Argenis Ventura, 25, who allegedly fell dead on day 2 of this month in Puerto Plata.

Mercedes said that during this month he had received allegations of torture by the police and warned that such an entity "will not tolerate" u000a"more abuse and rights violations against the population" by members of the order public.

"The methods used to get confessions include spread onion in the eyes of persons detained, wrap the head in bags plastic sink on broom sticks, falsely blows to the ears with cloth or gloves to not leave fingerprints, etc", said Mercedes in a statement.

On their side, the spokesman of the police, Colonel maximum Báez Aybar, said that when there is some excess by policemen, the institution takes appropriate measures. He said that they will be not tolerated the excesses.

"We have a commitment to society, to provide security to the population, and within that process always there will be confrontations;" We work so that they are the minimum and have the least possible negative impact, including for those who assault the members of the institution which they serve and protect to the u000a"society", said Baez Aybar.
