In San Cristóbal retaining wall will ensure more than lives and property

Representatives of hundreds of families residing on the banks of the rivers chigger and Yubazo stressed the speed in which the Government develops construction of the retaining wall on the banks of these tributaries to prevent flooding in times of rain, work declared to be of priority by President Leonel Fernández.

Directors of the Association of truckers of neighbourhood groups and other community sectors Moscow, Las Flores, Barrio Nuevo, syringe and 5 April expressed satisfaction with the seriousness and determination that the authorities are facing the problem of flooding common in dozens of districts established in environments of these tributaries.

He said that the walls of gabions prevent flooding from the chigger and Yubazo rivers to flood the neighborhoods of their environments, irrespective of the size of the avenues of these tributaries in times of heavy rainfall.

While M'onel García, who recalled that the chigger River swept her cottage product of rainfall, said that it is satisfied with the quality of the work, since the constructed wall a few years ago was destroyed by the strong floodwaters of the chigger River, because of flaws in their structure.
