Inaugurate Center for children who consume drugs

To tackle the problem of children and teenagers in drug consumption and in situations of vulnerability, the National Council of drugs (CND), the National Council for children (Conani), the Attorney General of the Republic, the Ministry of public health and the direction of Social Service and development of the Mayor of the Distrito Nacional (DNA), inaugurated the first Center of Integral Care for childrenAnd adolescents in consumption of drugs.

Centre aims to offer a multidisciplinary, inter-agency and governmental response at the municipal level, giving solutions to this vulnerable population, and guide them for treatment of his addiction to drugs, rehabilitation and integration of socio-familial, through an integrated social networking and community support intervention programme.

The programme comprises five components properly delimited, managed by individual workplans for each child, girl and u000ateenager with an ambulatory unit of evaluation Integral, detoxification and treatment of abstinence. Unit

This initiative arises from the first Forum of cities in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean "Policies public and drug treatment", held in Santo Domingo in April 2008, which gave home to the Cities Alliance project in drug treatment.
