Viewed 24 times.In November, inflation in Latin America and the Caribbean remained stable for the fourth consecutive month, while food showed a slight decline with respect to the previous month, according to the food prices, monthly bulletin published by the Regional Office of FAO.
Annual inflation of food from Latin America stood at 8.2% in November, slightly lower than the October (8.4%).
As regards the breakdown by country, the report mentions that in Chile, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, the annual rate of food inflation rose more than one percentage point for October. In contrast, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Honduras and Paraguay, this rate was reduced by at least one point.
General inflation maintained its level of 7% for the fourth consecutive month, and the products with greater influence on food inflation in countries were onions, tomatoes and meat (chicken especially).
Index u000aFAO international food prices maintained their level with respect to the last month; stood barely 1 per cent above its level of November 2010.
Analysis by subregion
in South America, remained very similar to the October trends. Annual inflation of food Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay were reduced by at least one percentage point, while in Peru, Chile Venezuela and Uruguay, did the opposite, i.e., the rate increased by more than one percentage point. Argentina, Colombia and Ecuador, on the other hand, practically no recorded changes in rates of inflation.
The region of the Caribbean shows slight decreases in annual inflation of food in Aruba, Haiti and Dominican Republic. The opposite happened in Trinidad and Tobago, where past annual inflation of food records indicate that you went from 4 3% to 6.9%.

In Mexico and Central America, annual rate of general inflation and food were reduced in the case of Costa Rica, El Salvador and Honduras, in a manner very similar to what happened in October.
