The Dominican government announced on Friday it is establishing the priority list for major construction works to be re-activated in the budget for this year and 2011.

It is making these assessments based on the current agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). President Leonel Fernandez has also announced his intention to begin various new projects across the country.

Fernandez met Friday with the officials whose portfolios include works in the pipeline, as well as Finance Minister, Vicente Bengoa.
Prior to this meeting, Fernandez had announced that repairs and upgrading to the road between Jarabacoa and Constanza will be a priority in next year's budget , which he said would help the economy of the area with an improved access for tourism.

The directors of the National Housing Institute (INVI ), Alma Fernndez, and the National Institute of Water and Sewerage  (INAPA), Mariano Germn, speaking after the meeting, explained that they had been adjusting budgets to achieve the priorities agreed with the IMF.

Among the works mentioned were the Samana aqueduct, a housing project in Santiago, which includes 180 apartments, the Duarte Corridor , as well as the completion of the aqueducts in Higuey, Dajabn and other communities.

For his part, Germn said INAPA needs about US$30 million to complete the works that are pending .
