Internet TV launched in Dominican Republic

The channel was named "Republica Dominicana. TV" and the online presentation of the initiative was made by journalist Rafael Nunez, Information Minister of the Presidency of the Republic. President Leonel Fernandez was also present along with senior officials.
Internet users in the Dominican Republic and the world, now have access to cultural and historical programs, sports and news.
During the launch ceremony held in the National Palace, the press officer, Rafael Nunez, said the Government was using this channel to make an ally of new technologies, to make progress in reducing the digital divide.
He stressed that the operation of the channel ended a year of testing and "today we can announce that the government has designed and will operate the first television channel for the Internet in this country." He said that "Republica Dominicana. TV" is real, despite resource constraints, and has already produced 600 hours of programs "In its trial stage, it has served as a vehicle for targeted campaigns against H1N1."
Dominican TV director, Ruth Rodriguez said that the project is in line with the initiative of the president, who has proposed putting the country where he feels it belongs.
