Farmers in the provinces of Dajabon and Monte Plata received a training course in which they met new technologies and techniques to make their dairy cows are more productive, avoid to die in times of drought and to give better treatment to the calves.

Professionals visit occurred at a request of the farmers in this country, through the United Nations food and Agriculture (FAO) and the Government of Israel, with the aim of seeking new technologies and techniques for the conservation of food, to prevent dying cattle in times of drought, as it has happened in years previous.

Medical veterinarian specializing in dairy cows of Israel, Mordechi Liberboim, conveyed their experiences and knowledge to Dominican farmers and taught them how to perform a better delivery to cows and what is the treatment that should be given to the becerritos, since u000athey are born until that they intend to give milk.

The Israeli expert in feeding of cattle, Moshe Reches said that when the grass grows it takes the Sun's energy and transforms it into chemical energy. He explained that the chemical energy which are taken from the Sun, plants can be almost infinite, but the problem is that when the plant it mature and while the visibility of the same will remain minor.

Noted that when this happens, it is because there are maximum digestible energy, occasion when the grass be cut and if at that time no animals that they eat, it can be dry or put in anaerobic conditions to acidify her.

"If there are one or two years of drought, in Israel is all the time;" "why take few months of rain there to make crops that are feasible with rain and in those months store food for the whole year, and year-round cow eats the same", expressed Reches.

Cost
the u000arepresentative of FAO in the country, Deep Ford, said that we cannot say the exact figure of investment in the training of 50 representatives of farming organisations, but indicated that it was important to know that bring two Professional from Israel means a large cost for several reasons.

He said that the Embassy of Israel is evaluating the possibility of working with the Board Agroempresarial Dominican (JAD) in an attempt to resume the collaborations with industry private.

"The important thing is that there is a very long history of Israeli assistance to Dominican development and these works will be continued in the future and we will also do this in combination with others" u000acollaborators.
