It rejects increase in penalty to minors

Viewed 20 times.The Attorney attached to issues of children and adolescents, Marisol Tobal, yesterday expressed his opposition to raise 15 years the maximum penalty to juvenile offenders and urged Congress "not winnowing" the draft amendment to the juvenile code.
He expressed hope that lawmakers will provide the opportunity for the Department she runs to express his opinion.
Tobal, according to the increase in penalties solves nothing because they are minors that create the problem.
"You know what the position of us has been total rejection of the increase of penalties for juvenile offenders, we hope the Senators to give us the opportunity to listen to us and to listen to the actors of the system of children and adolescents with regard to the issue", said Tobal.
Last Tuesday Deputies approved on second reading the modification of the code for the protection of children and adolescents or of the juvenile code, increasing the u000amaximum sentence of 3 to 10 years in prison for minors who received while in ages between 13 and 15 years, and from 5 to 15 years of imprisonment are aged between 16 and 18 years.

Marisol Tobal was interviewed at the National Palace, during the launch by the National Council for childhood and adolescence (Conani) of the guidelines of policies in favour of early childhood, framed in the fulfilment of the national strategy for development.
The event was held in the Hall of ambassadors of the National Palace. It was headed by President Leonel Fernández and assisted the founder of the Conani, Mrs. Renée Klang of Guzmán.
The implementation of these guidelines was in charge of the Conani, institution which directs Kirsys Fernández, and takes place on the occasion of celebrate on Wednesday the 33 anniversary of the creation of such an entity.
