Four heavily armed individuals posing as agents of the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) kidnapped an Italian businessman on Wednesday night and have demanded a million dollars for his release.

The victim is  Federico Dalmaso, 36 years old  and lives with his son and Dominican wife, Evelyn, in Andres, Boca Chica. According to reports, he was taken as he arrived home on Wednesday night. Dalmaso owns a restaurant in Andres and other businesses in Boca Chica.
Police reports say that extensive operations are under way in the Eastern part of the country including Los Guayacanes and Juan Dolio to find the culprits and their victim. Prosecutor Joselito Cuevas is accompanying police investigators.

Local reports say four men were involved and arrived in a black Honda Charade. They wore hoods and were armed with rifles. Their bullet proof vests had the DNCD insignia printed on them. They apparently took the victim away in his own green Mitsubishi Montero.

Reports indicate that Dalmoso resisted his abductors by struggling and clinging on to a fence as several local people came forward to help. However the kidnapers fired off a few shots and then quickly fled the scene.

Relatives living in the country and his wife, who is on vacation in Italy, have received phone calls demanding a million dollars in ransom.

It  has been reported that Dalmaso is the son of a wealthy and influential Italian family and his father is in the Italian Government.
