Italian busted at La Romana airport

An Italian man was arrested earlier this week at La Romana airport on suspicion of trying to take cocaine out of the country.

Alberto Mirenda, 45 was carrying two bags of white powder strapped to his thighs under Lycra shorts as he went through security checks before boarding Blue Panama flight 1109 to Milan.

DNCD officers, accompanied by a deputy prosecutor, carried out a thorough search of the Italian after he aroused suspicions. Mirenda has been taken by the DNCD for further questioning
