The suspect was identified as Rodrigo Poggiagliolmi and he was prevented from boarding Orbest Portugal flight OB104, bound for Lisbon.
DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron, said the packages weighed 14 kilos 330 grams and had been sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis.
"The arrest was conducted by agents of the CESA DNCD and Migration in the area when the 'mule' sought to reach the passenger screening area to go to Europe. Efforts are underway to determine who his contacts are in this country to arrest them and bring them to justice," he said.
Lebron said that the accused came to the country as a 'tourist', but his arrest reveals that his intention was not vacationing but to collect the drugs to bring Italy or France, using Portugal as a bridge. It appears that the final destination could be France, because he held a residence card for that country.
