Lack of water affects 40 towns of Santiago and Mao

Ramón Rodríguez Fernández and Carmen Martínez, leaders of the Board of CBOs in the area, said that the lack of water in many localities in the provinces of Santiago and Valverde is serious.
In the area of Mao, the lack of fluid feels in sites and sections Platanal, Jinamagao, the auction, the corner, the chichigua, Hato Nuevo, Amina, la Sabana, Piedra Gorda, Guinea grass, the Laguneta, Potrero, the auction and others.
Santiago communities that are concerned with the situation are Hatillo San Lorenzo, Hato del Yaque, Barrio Nuevo, Villa Tabacalera, Barrio Balaguer, Batey I, cinnamon, Barrio Lindo, mine, Bao and others.
However, the National Institute of potable water and sewerage (INAPA), performs works of u000aexpansion of the aqueduct of the Northwest line to connect several Mao communities that currently lack such service.
Community leaders complained to get water have to rely on sources highly contaminated as irrigation canals, streams and wells.
Also understand that the authorities should seek an urgent problem solution, that many people have to eat the contaminated liquid, which is creating stomach problems among children and adults.
