Leonel and Vargas would end deadlock on the Board

President Leonel Fernandez and the President of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Miguel Vargas Maldonado, will sign an agreement that facilitates the formation of a new structure collegial at the center of computing of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) in the next few hours.

To reach this agreement, both political leaders have resorted to mediation of high figures of the Catholic Church, headed by the cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez, he told this newspaper.

Before the signing of this agreement, Vargas Maldonado managed to reach a consensus on a formal position of the PRD with the presidential candidate of the party, Hipólito Mejía, according to the Secretary general of the Organization, Orlando Jorge Mera revealed.
