In a joint statement, the Crown Prosecution Service and Scotland Yard explained that the allegations in these two cases are "so serious" which forces to look at them now, without waiting for the findings of the research commissioned by the Government in 2010 on the alleged involvement of British secret agents in torture of suspects abroad following the attacks of September 11, 2001 in United States.
Although the authorities do not require the identities of these two men, the Reprieve organization identifies as Abdelhakim Belhaj and Sami Al Saadi.
