Lottery and Italian doctors cooperate to help 400 children
posted on: Jul 22 2010 17:20 by Royston. Viewed 210 times.In collaboration with the Italian foundations Movimiento Bambino and Smile Train Italia, the National Lottery will develop a plan to operate on 400 Dominican and Haitian children with various physical traumas, such as burns and cleft lip.
Children will be treated at specialized centers in the Dominican Republic and will receive counseling before and after their operations. A team of 22 surgeons and psychologists will be coming from Italy to carry out the work which is expected to start in the coming months.
In addition to this project, the Lottery Administrator announced that this year nearly 5,800 homes of poor families will benefit from roof repairs plan and new concrete floors.
Enrique Martinez made the announcements during a review of developments to be implemented by the institution he leads in 2010. He also said 50 nursing homes are to benefit from donations to help with medicines and structural improvements.
