Mango fair to be held in southwest city of Baní

“Expo Mango 2012″ will be held June 14-17 in the southwest city of Baní, situated one hour west of the capital city of Santo Domingo. The region is famous for its important fruit plantations.
Traditionally the mangoes from this region have become the most popular in the country. The fair, which is traditionally held in the region, will the exhibition and sale of the most varied types of mangoes.
Conferences, lectures and roundtables on the cultivation of this delicious tropical fruit will be held during the three-day event. The fruit is originally from northwestern India and northern Myanmar, in the Himalayas.
The event is organized by the Mango Cluster, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Dominican Institute of Agriculture and Forestry Research, the Office of the Governor.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the International Investment and Export Council of the Dominican Republic are key supporters of the event.
