Minustah chief says police progresses

"The security situation has improved and political violence has almost virtually disappeared," said Mariano Fernandez, head of the United Nations Mission for the stabilization in Haiti (Minustah). Fernandez added that 12,000 soldiers of peace and the Minustah police are doing a job "silent, but important, patrolling both day and night cities in Haiti to provide security to the people".
Official said LISTÍN DIARIO that Minustah is cooperating with the u000aHaitian authorities to strengthen the police when Haitians do charge the management of its security, the day that the UN mission ends its mandate.
