More retirements by decree in the Armed Forces

Through the Dominican Republic's Decree 125-10, those pushed into retirement were Brigadier Generals, César Concepción Fernández, Nicolás Medina Florentino, Erickson Lied Guerrero, Fernando Frías Rodríguez and Fredy González Estrada, and Vice Admiral Miguel Álvarez Herand and Rear Admiral Luis Féliz Roa.
Yesterday, the public affairs offices of the various armed forces and the Police website, reported that about 10 thousand senior officers, junior officers, NCO's and enlisted men were promoted on 27 February.
The electronic media have highlighted the promotion as one of the largest developments undertaken in the armed forces and police in recent years.
Navy Captain Juan Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez, director of communications for the Navy, confirmed yesterday that his institution had promoted 1,463 individuals which "were done in strict compliance with the guidelines of the Law of the Armed Forces."
The group of five new Captains consists of Henry Antonio Guzmán Taveras, César Ricardo Reyes Ramírez, José Antonio Otto Hidalgo, Rafael Díaz Florián and Juan Carlos Mora Jiménez.
The army has seen 2.471 officers promoted, the Air Force 2,149 and the National Police 4,739.
