More than 40 arrested in Spain by enter into marriages of convenience

More than 40 people have been arrested in Spain in two operations against networks which contradictory marriages of convenience between Spanish citizens or EU and foreigners who wanted to regularize their situation in the country.

In one of the plots, dismantled in Barcelona (North-East), the citizens of the EU were paid up to 6,000 euros (about 8,000 dollars) for the link, sources said yesterday police.

Thirty-two people - eight Spanish, a Dutchman and other citizens of countries outside the EU ("outside") - have been arrested in the operation, which is still open, so it is not ruled out further arrests.

To celebrate the links, which are already canceling, Community citizens was paid between 3,000 and 6,000 euros.

The detainees included citizens of Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Morocco and Dominican Republic, among others.

Most of the detainees have been released with charges, although in the u000acase of the non-EU has opened a case of expulsion by their illegal status in Spain.

In this case, all marriages had been formalized in the Civil Registry of the town of Dos Hermanas (Seville, South) and all marriage couples were formed by a Colombian and a Spanish resident in this population.
