More than 500,000 new jobs in 6 years

Employment in the Dominican Republic has been growing with 559,235 new jobs created since October 2004 until April this year. Of that amount , 130,440 were created since October 2009. The figures were released by the Central Bank in a National Survey of Labour Force.
Banco Central Governor, Hector Valdez Albizu, commenting on the report, said the figures demonstrated the growth and stability of the economy which has now seen the unemployment rate reduced in one year from 14.9 % to 14.4 %.
He described the creation of more than half a million jobs in six years as a great accomplishment.
