New hotels and resorts in 2011

Last year eleven hotels and residential projects were either inaugurated or completely refurbished in the Dominican Republic.

Among these is the Balaji Palace Playa Grande boutique hotel, on the country’s north coast – owned by the US-based Warwick International Hotels -; two Salamander hotels situated in Cap Cana and La Estancia, and a residential tourism project boasting a top-quality golf course in Bayahibe, all situated on the eastern region of the Dominican Republic.

The list of these establishments follows:

Cadaques Caribe
This residential complex, located in Bayahibe, La Romana, on the country’s easter region, features one, two and three bedroom apartments.

Puerto Bahia
Situated in the Samaná Peninsula, offers 85 villas and apartments, a marina, and two boutique hotels: the Condo Hotel and The Bannister Luxury Condominium Hotel, a five-star, 48-suite facility situated right on the beach.

Sotogrande
Completion of the first phase of this residential hotel has been completed.  Located in Cap Cana, on the country’s easternmost region, the facility offers 122 apartments spread over 13 three and four story buildings.

Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana
Previously operating as NH Royal Beach, this resort is now part of the AM Resort chain. It is an adults-only 373 room hotel, situated in Punta Cana.

Larimar Punta Cana
Formerly operated by NH hotels, it is now run by the AM Resort chain of hotels. It is an all-inclusive hotel featuring 642 rooms and suites. The Secrets Royal Beach and the Larimar are located in the same complex in Punta Cana.

Fishing Lodge Cap Cana
A member of the Salamander Hotels & Resort brand, it offers 302 spacious villas and is located in the Cap Cana Resort, Punta Cana.

La Estancia
A popular tourism residential complex, it is located in Bayahibe, just outside the eastern city of La Romana, featuring 202 villas, apartments and a golf course.

Balaji Palace Playa Grande
This luxury boutique hotel belongs to the US Warwick International Hotel chain, offers 13 suites and is located in Playa Grande, on the country’s north coast, just outside Puerto Plata’s international airport.

Riu Palace Bavaro
An all-inclusive member of the luxury Spanish chain Riu Hotels & Resorts, located in Punta Cana-Bavaro, featuring 610 rooms.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach
These new all-inclusive, adults only, facility offers 391 rooms.  It belongs to the Barceló chain of hotels, located in the resort of Playa Bavaro, Punta Cana.

Hacienda Del Mar
In Punta Cana, the facility offers a top-quality golf course plus 60 apartments (95, 162 and 206 square meters).
