New lanes to be constructed for Puerto Plata - Navarrete highway

Viewed 649 times.At a cost of over RD$ 3 billion pesos, the Public Works Office will begin in late March, the construction of a four lane highway from Puerto Plata to Navarrete. This will dramatically expand the existing two lane road linking the two and is the main route linking Puerto Plata to Santiago.

The information was provided by Undersecretary of Public Works engineer Porfirio Brito, who said the work will be undertaken by the company Vas Dominicana (VIADOM), who has already started surveying the road.
Brito said that the construction of the four lane highway will be using its own has already been budgeted for and the funds are available.
The Public Works engineer indicated that President Leonel Fernndez allocated resources in the in the Budget for the year 2010, and it was included in the funds for the North Ring Road.
