Local residents will be overjoyed to hear that the Vice President of the Dominican Electrical Companies (CDEEE) has promised that there will be no electrical blackouts nationwide on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (24, 25, 31 December and 1 January).

Celso Marranzini has stated there will be “100% of electricity”, and that 82% of the demand is currently being served.

Other days during the Christmas holiday will also fare better than usual with 2 to 4-hour blackouts scheduled in the areas that are not on 24-hour circuits.

Marranzini, who has been in his post 118 days, said the CDEEE is rated 12th of 92 government offices in terms of transparency.
