One drowned, 2 missing in floods

A 23 year old man drowned in the river Lebron and two others are missing, presumed drowned, in the floods affecting Los Alcarrizos. The deceased was named as Argenis Diaz Mad,  and 13- year-old Maria Victoria del Rosario Checo is missing along with anther unidentified adult. It seems Made jumped into the river to try to save the girl and a third man joined the rescue attempt.

The recent heavy rain has so far caused 1.330 people to flee their homes, flooded 266 houses and put 27 provinces on alert. The weather system is part of an active tropical wave that threatens to become a tropical depression in the next 48 hours.

According to the head of Defence , General Jos Luna Paulino, in the Mosc district of San Cristobal 187 homes were flooded when a river valley overflowed, while in the Pedro Corto community of San Juan de la Maguana five houses lost their roofs . In Santo Domingo, the Ozama river overflowed and affecting a dozen homes in  La Lila de los Tres Brazos .

The Emergency Operations Center (COE ) issued a green alert for the provinces of La Vega , Espaillat , Hermanas Mirabal , Monsignor Nouel and Duarte. A yellow alert is maintained for Santo Domingo, the National District , Sanchez Ramirez , Monte Plata , San Cristbal , San Jos de Ocoa , Peravia , Azua , Barahona , Pedernales , Independencia , Bahoruco , Samana , Maria Trinidad Snchez , La Altagracia, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macoris , La Romana and Elas Pia. A red alert is in place for the provinces of Barahona , El Seibo and San Juan de la Maguana.
