Open for three days tunnel leads to UASD

The Ministry of public works, in coordination with the Duarte corridor Consortium, gave provisional opening yesterday to the tunnel in construction ranging from the avenida José Ortega y Gasset to the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) for testing systems for control of the viaduct.

Set schedule was Friday and Saturday from 9: 00 a.m. to 1: 00 p.m. and tomorrow Sunday opening will be from 2: 00 to 6: 00 p.m..

During those days will be carried out tests on the systems of lighting, ventilation, detection of smoke, video cameras and variable message panels. After these trials will be made final arrangements for the official opening of the viaduct in January

In the lighting of the tunnel system UASD used luminaires to steam, a type of light metallic white from 200 to 400 watts of the Philips brand. Tunnel is an innovative work in which an Austrian excavation method was used. It is an underpass in North South direction with a length of 1.20 kilometers. You will have two lanes with a width of 3.65 m each.

The speed of design of the viaduct between avenida José Ortega y Gasset with St. Thomas Aquinas is 50 kilometres per hour.
