Open Latin American bicentennial

The cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez made the opening yesterday in the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome, from the ceremony opening the liturgy on the occasion of the bicentenary of the independence of Latin America, which was chaired by Pope Benedict XVI.
At the ceremony, Cardinal López Rodríguez, Archbishop Metropolitan of Santo Domingo, Primate of America, made the following invocation to the Virgin Mary with the prayer to our Lady of Guadalupe: Virgin Mary of Guadalupe, mother of the true God for whom lives.
En San Juan Diego, the smallest of your children, you say today the peoples of America latino:
"Not am I here that I am your mother?" Are you not under my shadow? Are not by ventura on my lap? ".

You, pedagogue of the Gospel of Christ, star of the new evangelisation, missionary of the pilgrim people of God in Latin America we consagramos the work. Oh sweet lady! Oh our mother! O always Virgin Mary! Your presence makes us brothers! It welcomes this supplication of your children with love and bless this beloved land you with gifts of reconciliation and peace. Amen.
Pope Announces trip to CUBA and Mexico (AFP)
Benedict XVI confirmed Monday that will travel to Mexico and Cuba before u000athe Passover of 2012, during a mass in the Basilica of St. Peter by the bicentenary of the independence of Latin American countries, which recalled the "emerging role" of Latin America.
