Pastor arrested for sexual abuse of 30 children

Police have arrested a man described as an evangelical pastor accused of raping at least 30 children and adolescents in the city of Santiago.
The Police report said that Daniel Vasquez had been sent to the Department of Gender Violence in the local prosecutor's office.
The detainee denied the accusation and said he welcomed the investigations by the courts, because he is "innocent."
However, ten of the children who were allegedly abused by Vasquez gave evidence to the prosecutor in the company of their parents and reaffirmed the allegations against him.
According to the parents' complaints, Vasquez bought gifts for their children as inducements to invite them to his house, where he allegedly sexually abused them.
The complainants explained that the defendant acted as pastor of the Evangelical church "Jess, la Fuente de la Salvacin" in Mella I, Cienfuegos, where he met their children.
