Petrol will increase RD$ 2.70 and RD$ 2.50; diesel RD$ 2.60

For the week of 4 to 10 February 2012, the prices of liquefied petroleum Gas (LPG) and Natural Gas will not undergo variations, while other fuels recorded increases, due to the increase of a 2.85% in some derived during the five days of reference for the implementation of internal prices.

The average exchange rate used for the calculation of fuel, supplied by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic was Rd $39.02.

Industry and Commerce explained that the increases in the local market respond to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which could result in the closure of maritime traffic by the Strait of Hormuz, which hinder the transport of crude oil to Asia and to the deterioration of the confidence of the consumer of the United States.
