PGA 2012-2014 golf tour in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Golf Federation and the Latin America PGA Tour recently signed an agreement whereby the Dominican Republic will be included in one of the professional circuit tours between 2012 and 2014.
This is the second time that the Professional Golf Association of America chooses the Dominican Republic for one of its tour stops.
The first tour took place at the world-famous Cap Cana Golf Course, in 2008 and 2009. The first tour stop, scheduled for this coming November, includes a US$125,000 first-place prize.
The first tour stop will take place from November 5-11 with the participation of 144 professional players. The golf course to be used for this event has not been confirmed. The Dominican Golf Federation (FEDOGOLF) will determine which Dominicans will qualify to play in the PGA tour, and will also offer places to other federations.
The report “Golf Travel Insights,” prepared by the KPMG consulting firm, said the Dominican Republic is quickly becoming a popular golf destination for Americans and players from many other countries.
The report indicates that the majority of golfers visiting the Dominican Republic are coming from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden.
The Dominican Republic and Argentina are the only Latin American nations that made it to the KPMG golf destinations report.
