The President Sebastián Piñera buried a reform to the electoral system inherited by the dictatorship military, one of the two parties in his coalition and a community-driven opponent.

"There are other priorities more urgent to change the binominal", said the President in an interview published Sunday by the El Mercurio newspaper, referring to the electoral system which protects the existence of two major political blocs, to exclude small parties.

He said that most important reforms to the education and health and the need to prepare the country to tackle the international economic crisis and protect the jobs and growth.

However, the ruling admitted that the system needs corrections, "to give you more options and choices to the people". He added that they will first discuss the topic within the ruling party and when they reach an agreement, "we will try to convince the other political forces". u000aDid time.
