Port Customs get audited
posted on: Jun 27 2011 14:23 by The Reporter. Viewed 719 times.The General Directorate of Customs has ordered a thorough audit of the accounting operations of the Customs collection office at the Puerto Plata port, where in recent days there have been several staff changes.
At the head of the audit is Héctor Javier Andrés Trinidad who is investigating financial transactions during the administration of Marcelino (Frank) Salvado.
Among the staff changes that have occurred, defined as routine by Rafael Camilo, the Director General of Customs, is the transfer of of Salvador to the Customs office at General Gregorio Luperon International Airport.
Salvador had been appointed to the position for nearly eight months last year on the recommendation of his the political leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Senator Francis Vargas, who also said he was surprised by the change.
Narciso Tiburcio from Santiago has been appointed at the port in his place. Salvador replaces Jesus Medina at the air terminal Customs office.
Other major changes in the Puerto Plata Customs Collection office affected the head of verifiers, Aneudy Álvarez, who has been replaced on an interim basis by Alison Diaz.
Two others were removed from there positions, Marcelino Fricá, and Luís Joel Francisco, who was in charge of the Customs post office at the port.
Changes were also made in customs offices in Punta Caucedo, Santo Domingo and Pedernales.
