President Fernández delivers 85 motorcycles and 17 trucks agronomists

President Leonel Fernandez gave today 85 motorcycles and 17 trucks to equal amount of agronomists extensionists who advise small and medium agricultural producers nationwide.

In a ceremony conducted in the Ministry of agriculture, Fernández also delivered technological equipment 85 technical extension that include precision equipment and articles for assistance to producers.

The Minister of agriculture, Salvador Jiménez, reported that motorcycle will be used by agronomists extensionists in programmes of agricultural development that run throughout the country.

Said that the equipment and vehicles were acquired by means of an invitation to tender in accordance with the public procurement law and that the proposals of the participating companies were presented on envelopes grapados and timbrados in the purchases of the Administrative Department and financial department.

Pointed out that in u000a85 20 motorcycles will be given to technicians working in the pilot project of extension that takes place in Azua, with support from the FAO.

While other 18 will go to the rural development programme in Barahona, which supports the Spanish Agency of international cooperation (AECI). Other 23 will be delivered to the program of Oriental vegetables and fruits dry and 17 for the program of market greenhouses and refrigerators.

Jiménez indicated that 85 motorcycles, seven were donated by the AECI and the rest purchased by the Ministry.

The awards ceremony took place on the front Esplanade of the Ministry, where the President arrived at 11: 20 a.m..
