Puerto Rico installs tsunami alarm in the capital

Experts have warned that the island is facing a real threat of tsunami, while the latter occurred in 1918, said Mayor Jorge Santini.
Added that the network of sirens and a public education campaign are critical in the event of an evacuation. San Juan received about $800,000 of the Federal Agency of emergencies and the Department of Homeland Security to establish the warning system
Puerto Rico is in a seismic zone. The seismic Center of the island said that one of the most powerful earthquakes in the history of Puerto Rico unleashed a tsunami on the West Coast in 1918. Some 40 people were killed.
