PVE leave open campaign on 15 February

La Junta Central Electoral (JCE) will dictate the election proclamation on February 15, which leave open formally campaign for the May 20 elections to elect the next President and Vice President of the country.
The proclamation will be issued at the latest 90 days before the elections as it contemplates the electoral law 275-97, in its article 87.
The House of the JCE will meet Tuesday, January 31, at 11 a.m., in order to ascertain the draft election proclamation that underwent the Presidency of the JCE and other 11 points relating to the Organization of the process electoral.
The President of the JCE, Roberto Rosario, instructed the Secretary of that institution, Ramón Hilario Espiñeira Ceballos, convene the plenary of members for that day, in a communication which he sent him yesterday.
"In regards to draft electoral proclamation, allow ourselves to participate you that the Presidency of the JCE has scheduled the opening period of the" u000a"election campaign by day 15 of February 2012, i.e. five days before the deadline established, which is later than ninety days prior to the vote, which in this case met on 20 February 2012, as provided for in article 87 of the electoral law No. 275-97… should be held", requires the President of the JCE communication forwarded to the Secretariat General.

With the proclamation the JCE announces the class of choice, territorial extension which will cover, the constitutional or statutory provisions which should be verified, the date in which will take place, the charges and the period will be and any other information it considers necessary.
The President of the JCE explains that that date, u000aFebruary 15, for the opening of the election campaign, it will enable the preparation and organization of the solemn ceremony which deserves this event with a prudent time to attend the invitations to the personalities concerned. In previous electoral processes, electoral proclamation was issued in January.
