The President of Cuba, Raúl Castro, concluded yesterday an unpublished Conference national Communist with a closed defence of one-party model, which the island won't be a "strategic weapon" for its unity and sovereignty against the aggressions of the "Empire".

To those who thought that this conclave would be "the beginning of the dismantling of the political and social system" of the Cuban revolution, general Castro, of 80 years, responded them that the island will not give the game because that would "legalize homeland to the party or parties of imperialism".

Also that require restoring the model "that existed under the colonial model of United States" urged them to take account of the "history of permanent aggression, economic blockade and interference" faced by Cuba, which defined it as a "besieged plaza".

Power
in his rejection to the multi-party system, the Cuban representative u000aHe questioned the validity and usefulness of representative democracies where, he said, political power is concentrated in the economic and financial elite and where the majorities did not have or are "brutally" crushed when manifest.

With the speech of Raul Cas - tro, about 45 minutes, and between the sounds of "the international", closed yesterday, Sunday the first national conference held by the Communist Party of Cuba to review its methods of work and policy of tables.

One of the most prominent on the agenda of this Conclave was the approval of the limit to a maximum of two periods of five years in a row in the mandates of State and political positions which the Cuban President has already announced last April in the 6th Party Congress.

Raúl Castro confirmed yesterday that commitment though he offered no specific deadlines on when the measure will enter into force: only pointed out that it will apply without waiting for the constitutional reform u000arelevant and that their implementation will be gradual.

A subject that occupied much of his speech was the problem of corruption, "one of the main enemies of the revolution, much more harmful than billionaire program subversive and injerencista of the United States Government inside and outside the country".

"BRUTALES campaigns" against the island
not forget Raul Castro accusing United States and countries "committed to subversion" by "brutal campaigns" that are against the island, in an allusion to the case of Wilman Villar, the imprisoned member of the illegal Patriotic Union of Cuba who died in a hunger strike in prison.

Except for the speech of Raul Castro, broadcast on Cuban television on-demand, little or nothing has transpired so far on the specific agreements of the Conference of the CCP. As reported by the Cuban Agency Prensa Latina, a resolution was passed u000a"reflecting the role of the party in compliance with" the plan of economic reforms in the country.
