Rector asks the Government to avoid crisis in UASD

The rector of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) requested the intervention of the Minister of finance, Daniel Toribio, for the release of funds for the 15% wage increase does not generate a new difficulty in the Academy.

Matthew Aquino Febrillet explains in a letter to the Finance Minister Daniel Toribio, than the amount requested by the Federation of associations of teachers (Faprouasd) to the Minister of higher education, Ligia Amada Melo of Cardona, amounted to RD$ 41.8 million per month; when 15% of the payroll applied to this month is Rd $53.8 million.

"If we only receive the amount indicated by Faprouasd and processed by the Minister of higher education, would have a new conflict, because we could not apply 15% agreed, because there would be a deficit of RD$ 11,944,169.02", said Aquino Febrillet.

In response, the rector of the University of the State requested "strongly" to the Minister of u000aTreasury that the amount allocated each month to comply with the agreement is for a total of RD$ 53,833, 901.85.

The President of Faprouasd, Ismael Peralta, described as the communication of "reckless and disrespectful", especially when the rector calls on the authorities to avoid conflicts, and said that when the Guild initiated the struggle of 15% was based on the payroll for the month of October and the increase amounted to RD$ 41.8 million, so it agreed with the Minister of higher education on the basis of this amount.

Last Friday the UASD teachers Federation held a press conference to announce that the Minister of higher education had informed him of the removal of the funds pledged for the increase.
