Recent polls confirm a large absolute majority for the Popular Party (PP, right) of Mariano Rajoy, who should become the next head of the Spanish Government, after two failures in 2004 and 2008, making the punishment vote the ruling party Socialista Obrero Spanish (PSOE).
Rajoy, for 56 years, opted to put an end to its campaign with a rally in Madrid, where he was cheered by nearly 20,000 supporters in a room literally flooded by thousands of flags blue of his party.
"Change all Spain together", launched the Conservative leader, claiming to be "prepared to be the President of the Government of all the" u000a"Spaniards".
Also his rival Socialist, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, chose to finish in the capital the electoral journey that for two weeks has led him to explore dozens of Spanish cities in a bid to reduce the enormous gap that separates it from Rajoy.
But Rubalcaba, of 60 years, former number two of the Government, is difficult to reverse the trend in a country with nearly five million unemployed.
