The local director of the agency, Genaro Pena reported that the first of these talks began Wednesday morning in the Town Hall and was attended by groups of riders from different areas of the city.
Peña explained that teaching the moto riders the basic traffic regulations would still not prevent accidents caused by the reckless driving of others on the roads.
The lecture was delivered by Nurys Vasquez who reminded those attending that it is "better to lose a minute in life, that life in a minute” reminding everyone of the potential for disaster with powerful machines under their control.
Also, officials from OTTT told the drivers that those who were properly registered would receive health insurance, identification vests and helmets.
Th Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) in Puerto Plata, has frequently found accidents to be caused by reckless driving of motoconchos as well as other vehicles.

What they should do is every time a concho is caught driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light, driving without a helmut, driving recklessly (you get the picture) the motorbike should be siezed and destroyed on the spot. Maybe then they will learn. Until AMET grows some balls and actually enforces the road laws here it will be drive at your own risk.
